Sharp Retractors

RI-000050 Surgical implements called sharp retractors, commonly referred to as sharp hooks or sharp dissectors, are used to retract tissues during surgical procedures. Sharp retractors, in contrast to other retractors with smooth or atraumatic blades, contain sharp, pointed tips or hooks that are intended to engage and securely grasp tissues. In treatments that need for a more stable and secure retraction of tissues, sharp retractors are frequently used. The surgical manipulation is prevented from slipping by the sharp points or hooks penetrating the tissue and providing a strong grasp. This enables the physician to see the operative site more clearly and provides better exposure.
