Surgery tools called Reverdin Abdominal Spatulas are used during abdominal procedures to move and retract organs. They bear the name Jacques-Louis Reverdin in honour of the Swiss surgeon who made significant contributions to surgical methods and equipment.
Surgical-grade stainless steel, which is strong and simple to sterilise, is often used to make the spatulas. They have a curved handle on one end and a flat, thin blade on the other. The handle gives the surgeon a secure grasp while the blade is utilised to gently lift and shift organs out of the way.
