What are Liposuction Surgical Instruments
A common cosmetic surgery technique called liposuction involves removing extra body fat from various areas of the body. Specifically created instruments are used to accomplish this surgical operation. The surgical equipment used for liposuction is a precise tool that assists surgeons in efficiently and securely removing fat.
Small skin incisions are made during the liposuction operation, and the liposuction cannula is then inserted into the fatty tissue. The fat cells are then broken up and suctioned out of the body using the cannula as a tool. To remove the fat, a vacuum pump with a cannula connected generates negative pressure.
Types of Liposuction Surgical Instruments
Various surgical instruments are utilized during the operation known as liposuction. Each instrument has a special function that helps the surgeon carry out the operation precisely.
1. Liposuction Cannula
The main tool used in the liposuction technique is the liposuction cannula. It is a little tube that is introduced into the fatty tissue through the incision. The surgeon can break apart and suck out the fat cells thanks to the cannula’s rounded tip and several apertures along its length.
Cannulas come in a variety of diameters and forms, including straight, curved, and tapered. The quantity of fat that has to be removed and the region of the body being treated determine the size and form of the cannula.
2. Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) Handpiece
The power-assisted liposuction handpiece is a specialised device that breaks up the fat cells using mechanical energy. The cannula in the handpiece is vibrated back and forth by a power source, which makes it simpler to suck out the fat cells.
When treating fibrous body parts like the upper back, male breast tissue, and the belly, the PAL handpiece is very helpful. The difficult tissue is broken up and made easier to remove by the mechanical shaking.
3. Tumescent Solution Infusion System
Before performing liposuction, a saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine solution is injected into the fatty tissue using a device called a tumescent solution infusion system. The mixture lessens bleeding, numbs the region, and facilitates the removal of fat cells.
A pump, a bag of saline solution, many tubing, and needles make up the infusion system. The fluid is injected into the fatty tissue by the surgeon, which causes it to enlarge and stiffen up. This lowers the danger of bleeding and facilitates the removal of the fat cells.
4. Suction Pump
A tool called a suction pump is used to produce negative pressure in order to remove fat cells. The pump generates a vacuum that draws the fat cells out of the body through the liposuction cannula.
Suction pumps come in a variety of designs, including manual and electric pumps. Although manual pumps can be utilised for smaller processes or in places with poor electrical availability, electric pumps are more effective and powerful.
5. Compression Garments
After liposuction, patients are required to wear specialised clothing called compression garments. They facilitate quicker recovery by lowering swelling, bruising, and pain.
Typically comprised of elastic fabric, the garments are tailored to tightly suit the treatment region. They gently press on the region, which reduces swelling and enhances blood flow. After the surgery, compression garments are normally worn for a few weeks.
